Mother Earth Brewing Wins Visual Improvement Award
The Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce surprised Mother Earth Brewing this week by presenting the brewery with the Chamber’s monthly Visual Improvement Award. Mother Earth Brewing, a 20 barrel brewery and Tap Room, is housed in what used to be an abandon, dilapidated building situated on the corner of Heritage and North Streets.
Revitalizing a piece of Downtown Kinston in an eco-friendly manner fit right in line with Mother Earth Brewing’s environmentally conscious focus. Here is just a hint at some of the Green work they’ve done: a three-kilowatt solar array stands on the roof, blue jean insulation, a 100% recyclable product, was used to insulate the walls, soy-based spray foam insulation protects the second story ceiling, and low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint covers the walls. The flooring wasn't ignored, either. Mother Earth Brewing's corporate offices sport eco carpet partially made from renewable resources. Eco flush valves on toilets and eco faucets offer an unimaginable water savings. Now, what was once an eye-sore for Downtown Kinston is inarguably an environmentally friendly eye-catcher.
Trent Mooring, President of Mother Earth Brewing was clearly proud of receiving the noteworthy award, stating “Over the last year, a number of excellent projects have been completed in Lenoir County- a lot of people have put forth a great deal of money and time to improve their businesses in Lenoir… we are really honored to have been chosen as the recipient.”
The Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce honors one business monthly for visual improvement.
